Make your own brown sugar with a 1⁄4 cup regular sugar and a drizzle of molasses - it gives such a nice flavor! Individually wrap in parchment paper and store in an airtight container on the counter for up to 1 week.

Love, love, love this flavor and concept. I’ve made this twice now and haven’t had any luck with the bars staying together. Aside from using a burger smashed, I’m at a loss for what to do. Any tips?

You need to let the sugar mixture get nice and thick. Let it boil for a while until it thickens, otherwise they won't hold together

These are sickly sweet. I wonder if leaving out the brown sugar would ruin the recipe? They taste more like a rice crispy treat dessert than a granola bar.

They won't stick together if you leave out the brown sugar. You can try my peanut butter version for a less sweet option

Gluten free with the correct rice cereal (no malt). Several on Amazon and some in store brands like Whole Foods.
